Questions

What permissions are required?

Reader is required at selected scopes. Cost Management Reader, Monitoring Reader, and Advisor Reviews Reader are optional read-only roles that add richer evidence.

Does Resource Lens make changes automatically?

No. Resource Lens reads Azure metadata and provides recommendations with implementation guidance. Your organization decides whether and how to apply any change.

How often are analyses run?

Authorized users can start a run at any time by choosing subscriptions and resource types. Plan tiers define the intended optimization cadence and included AI capacity.

What happens when an analysis needs more information?

The run pauses, displays the question or requested access, releases the worker, and resumes after an authorized user responds or denies the request.

Is Resource Lens Azure-only?

Resource Lens is designed for Microsoft Azure subscriptions.

Can we pilot on a single subscription?

Yes, you can start with a subset of subscriptions and expand the selected scope over time.

How do we track savings?

The dashboard shows estimated monthly savings and annualized impact from the latest completed analysis, so reruns do not inflate totals. These values remain estimates until your team implements and measures a change.

What evidence is available?

Depending on access and Azure data, a recommendation can include inventory, cost, Advisor, Monitor, activity-log, and retail-price evidence plus assumptions, counter-signals, missing telemetry, and required validation.

Can we export implementation details?

Professional and Enterprise plans include exportable implementation artifacts for recommendation review.

How does AI usage billing work?

Each plan includes monthly Resource Lens tokens, and every analysis shows the tokens it consumed. A normal run typically uses about 10–25 tokens. Additional hosted AI usage costs $2 per 100 tokens ($0.02 per token) and cannot exceed the monthly overage cap configured in Resource Lens.

How do we revoke access?

Authorized administrators can revoke roles per subscription. The protected workspace-reset workflow removes Resource Lens role assignments, coordinates Marketplace cancellation, locks the workspace for a seven-day recovery period, and then purges saved data.
